艾丽西亚·比伊克Alicia Bewicke

艾丽西亚·比伊克(Alicia Bewicke,1845年—1926年7月31日),号阿希巴尔德·立德夫人(Mrs. Archibald Little),中文习称立德夫人,英国旅游作家,1887-1906年来华,创立天足会宣导清末妇女不再缠足闻名。亦以其清末四川的游记与照片闻名。1886年(41岁)与丈夫阿希巴尔德·立德结婚,丈夫是开拓四川航运的英国商人,立德夫人借机在四川三峡游历。著作有:《在中国的婚事》(1899)、《亲密接触中国》(1899)、《穿蓝色长袍的国度》(1901)、《北京指南》(1904),《李鸿章,他的生平和时代》、《北京我家花园的周围》(1905)。对清末官场、科举、缠足、鸦片都有深刻描写。

Alicia Bewicke (1845 – July 31, 1926), also known as Mrs. Archibald Little, was a British travel writer. She came to China from 1887 to 1906 and became well – known for founding the Natural Foot Society to advocate that women in late Qing Dynasty should no longer practice foot – binding. She was also renowned for her travelogues and photos of Sichuan in the late Qing Dynasty. In 1886 (at the age of 41), she married Archibald Little, a British merchant who pioneered shipping in Sichuan. Taking the opportunity, Mrs. Little traveled in the Three Gorges area of Sichuan. Her works include Marriage in China (1899), Intimate China (1899), The Land of the Blue Gown (1901), Peking Guide (1904), Li Hongzhang, His Life and Times, and Round About My Peking Garden (1905). Her works provide profound descriptions of the officialdom, the imperial examination system, foot – binding, and the opium problem in the late Qing Dynasty.
