开埠后,西式菜品引进,宜昌的番菜馆逐渐发展。1921 年开办的 “味馥番菜馆” 最负盛名。开办人卢光照,曾在上海租界德国人西餐馆学徒,后到宜昌美孚洋行任西厨师,离开美孚后创办“味馥番菜馆”,其配置标准为“楼上楼下,电灯电扇”,还备有冰箱,用三游洞冰厂的冰块保鲜食物。

Weifu Western Restaurant

After Yichang was opened as a trading port, Western – style cuisine was introduced, and Western restaurants in Yichang gradually developed. The “Weifu Western Restaurant”, established in 1921, was the most famous among them. Its founder, Lu Guangzhao, had apprenticed at a German – run Western restaurant in the Shanghai Concession. Later, he became a Western – style chef at the Standard Oil Company in Yichang. After leaving Standard Oil, he founded the “Weifu Foreign – style Restaurant”. The restaurant was equipped with electric lights and fans on both floors and also had a refrigerator, using ice from Sanyoudong Ice Factory to keep food fresh.
